From 26 to 30 May 2014, Vietnam Agency for radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS) in collaboration with the European Commission (EC) organized the Workshop on Technical assistance for further development of the legal framework for nuclear safety in Vietnam. Dr. Dang Thanh Luong – Deputy Director General of VARANS came to attend and address the opening speech.
The Workshop was took place in the framework of Project VN/RA/01 on Technical assistance for improving the legal framework for nuclear safety and strengthening the capabilities of the Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (VARANS) and its TSO.
In his opening speech, Dr Dang Thanh Luong stressed the importance of this project in strengthening capabilities of VARANS and technical assistance for further development of the legal framework for nuclear safety in Vietnam. He said that this Workshop is a good opportunity to exchange information and share experience between EC experts and Vietnamese colleagues about nuclear safety assessment and verification and regulatory oversight.
He also expressed sincere thanks to experts from Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) and the French Nuclear Safety Authority (NSA) for their contribution in this Workshop.
Experts shared Finnish and French experience on NPP on-site emergency preparedness and the role of regulatory body for nuclear safety, licensing and inspection of site emergency preparedness arrangements,etc.,
