The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) launched a showroom displaying mock-ups of nuclear equipment in Hanoi on June 4, aiming to help the public understand the importance of nuclear power plant projects and boost consensus about the work.
As part of the cooperation programme between the EVN and the International Nuclear Energy Development of Japan Co., Ltd (JINED), the showroom is also featuring a mock-up of a nuclear power plant borrowed from the Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
In his opening speech, EVN General Director Pham Le Thanh said his group is stepping up the establishment of nuclear power plant projects, following a first in the central province of Ninh Thuan , which has been given the green light by the National Assembly.
He also emphasised the importance of public support for a nuclear power plant project, in addition to a range of other factors, including advanced technologies, human resources, investment capital and a waste treatment system.
The EVN and JINED have teamed up to organise a number of relevant exhibitions, conferences and training courses on public relations for their officials.
The showroom is open to visitors to make sense of nuclear equipment and nuclear power in general.
