Techmart Vietnam 2012 showcases new technologies
Closing on September 23 in Hanoi, the International Techmart Vietnam 2012 (Techmart Vietnam 2012) with more than 500 pavilions showcased almost 3,000 new technologies and equipment, mostly in the fields of biotechnology, clean and renewable energy, new materials, electricity and automation and food processing.
According to the fair's organizers, Techmart Vietnam 2012 attracted more than 200,000 visitors; more than 1,200 contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed and thousands of commercial transactions valued at VND1.526 trillion were agreed. At the fair's closing session, the organizers presented 71 Techmart Gold Cups to domestic businesses and 28 Techmart Gold Cups to foreign firms.
LINO JSC's Technical Department Manager Nguyen Quang Tuan was willing to introduce machines washing vegetables with ozone, sterilizers, water filters and double-ozone-layer fans at the company's pavilion. He said that these products can be used in both industrial and civil areas. A notable product at the LINO JSC pavilion is the automated watering vegetable sprouts making machine. With this machine, one just needs to pour clean water and seeds into the machine, then turn the machine on and wait for 2-3 days to have 1-2 kilograms of safe sprouts. Tuan told the Vietnam Economic News that LINO engineers invented and made this machine in Vietnam will only several imported components and that this machine is the first product of its kind to be made here in Vietnam. The company was awarded a Techmart Gold Cup for this product.
Nguyen Huu Trong began his research to create an internal combustion engine for motorbikes of different kinds in 2007. He was granted a patent for this invention in 2010. He has since then experimented with this product. Trong is improving an automated production line to make energy efficient engines for motorbikes. He is thinking of creating similar engines for automobiles and generators. Trong founded his Binh Trong Technological Development & Investment Co., Ltd to further research and produce energy efficient engines. He said that the engines that he created consume an amount of energy 30-50 percent less than that consumed by conventional engines and that they are totally Vietnamese products.
With an idea of salvaging small dendrocalamus barbatus (giant bamboo), wastes and by-products, the Quan Hoa Rural Development Co-operative in Thanh Hoa Province kicked off a dendrocalamus barbatus development project (LPD) with assistance from GRET - a technological research and transfer organization. The project produces bamboo coal for use in households and health, pharmaceutical, processing and agricultural sectors. This kind of coal can be used for filtering waste, balancing humidity in the air, deodorization, magnetism and radioactive ray deoxidization and improving exhausted soil. It can also be mixed with cattle feed to ease digestion and increase disease resistance for cattle and be used as non-smell, non-smoke and non-toxic burning fuel. Bui Ngoc Long, head of the business and market promotion team of the LDP project, said that the co-operative exported more than 10,000 baskets of bamboo coal to France, Spain and the Republic of Korea (RoK) with revenue of hundreds of millions of dong in 2011.
Other notable products at Techmart Vietnam 2012 included technology of keeping flower fresh forever of the Da Lat biotechnology joint stock company, light concrete brick and artificial sand production lines of Nucetech (a construction material technology joint stock company), bio-products that can promptly disintegrate organic materials such as straw, rice husk and leaves without polluting the environment of the Agricultural Genetics Institute's Van Giang agricultural biotechnology one-member limited company, cattle feed, corncob, ectomere and bagasse grinding machines, and farm produce dryers.
Business and scientist participants of Techmart Vietnam 2012 said that they needed financial assistance and assistance in market approach and trade promotion to make their made-in-Vietnam technologies find buyers./.
